Large Amount of Cannabis Seized and Four Men Arrested

About £50,000 worth of suspected cannabis has been seized and four men arrested on suspicion of being concerned in the supply of controlled drugs following a police operation in Shropshire.

The men were arrested yesterday, July 22, as part of Operation Halogen, an ongoing operation targeting those suspected of supplying illegal drugs in the county.

Officers from Shropshire Division made the arrests in the Admaston area of Telford yesterday afternoon.

Ted Cowling celebrated his 90 birthday recently with a special party for 100 guests at the Pheasant Inn, Admaston. Ted has lived a full and varied life. “Two years ago my late wife and I won the Most Romantic Couple in Britain award. And last year I was invited to attend a Garden Party at Buckingham Palace by the Queen.”

The committee of the Wrekin Museum Partnership held its first AGM in Wellington's Civic Centre recently. Officers elected were: George Evans, president, councillor Denis Allen, Chairman, Ingrid Ault, secretary and Dave Gregory and Ross Vickers as vice presidents. Dave Barnett was elected as fund-raising co-ordinator. The partnership treasurer is now Carol Williams who has taken over from Phil Fairclough who is remaining as a member of the Museum Partnership.
