Shropshire Police officers today issued an appeal to horse and stable owners to ensure their properties were secure after a large amount of riding tackle was stolen from a village near Market Drayton.

Although tack thefts remain relatively unusual in the county, when they happen they tend to happen in spates and people are urged to take steps to reduce the risk of their premises being targeted.

Between about 8.20pm on Wednesday July 28 and yesterday and 7.15am yesterday, a stables in Ollerton was broken into an upwards of 14 saddles and 20 bridles stolen.

Large Amount of Cannabis Seized and Four Men Arrested

About £50,000 worth of suspected cannabis has been seized and four men arrested on suspicion of being concerned in the supply of controlled drugs following a police operation in Shropshire.

The men were arrested yesterday, July 22, as part of Operation Halogen, an ongoing operation targeting those suspected of supplying illegal drugs in the county.

Officers from Shropshire Division made the arrests in the Admaston area of Telford yesterday afternoon.

Police trying to trace the owners of a haul of workmen’s tools believe they may have been stolen from the Bridgnorth area.

Over 20 power tools and specialist carpentry items were seized by police who carried out a search warrant at a house in Sandpits Avenue, Ludlow earlier this month.

The tools are thought to have been stolen but police have been unable to trace the owners. They are appealing to anyone in Shropshire, Herefordshire, Worcestershire or Dyfed Powys areas to get in touch if they have had similar tools stolen during the past few weeks.

West Mercia Police officers re-investigating the death of a young Telford man who died almost 20 years ago have today confirmed that the man arrested yesterday on suspicion of murder has been released on police bail.

Liam James Wright, aged 19, died in a shed fire at the Madeley Ski Slope on 10th September 1990 and following a lengthy police investigation an open verdict was eventually recorded by the Coroner at an inquest in 1991.

PostHeaderIcon Police Appeal for Witnesses to Broseley Road Collision

Police are seeking witnesses to a road collision in which a man was seriously injured while walking in Broseley.

The 33-year-old was in collision with a silver Peugeot at the Brandywell Road junction with Cockshutt Lane, at around 3.30am yesterday (Sunday).

He was taken to the Princess Royal Hospital, Telford with serious head, back and leg injuries and later transferred to Selly Oak Hospital, Birmingham where his condition is described as "stable."

Telford police officers have appealed for witnesses after a cyclist suffered serious injuries in a road traffic collision today, Tuesday 6th July.

The collision - between a car and a male cyclist travelling south- happened at just after 1pm on the A442 between the Wombridge interchange and the Greyhound interchange.

A police spokesman said: "Following the collision, the as of yet unidentified cyclist was treated at the scene by paramedics before being transferred to hospital in Stoke by air ambulance with what are believed to be life threatening injuries.

Telford Police officers are investigating two robberies in Malinslee at the weekend that officers believe may be linked. The first robbery occurred on Withywood Drive late on Friday 2nd July while the second robbery occurred on the same road in the early hours of Saturday 3rd July.

Telford police officers have launched an investigation inot an assault that occurred in Oakengates. It happened in Stafford Road on Sunday 27th June.

At sometime between 10.20am and 10.40am, as the victim, a 19-year-old man, walked home from Oakengates railway station, he made his way past a group of youths who were standing at the bus station.
