Lib Dems pick PPC for Wrekin seat
At a recent meeting, Wrekin & Telford Liberal Democrats approved councillor, David Murray, as their Wrekin candidate.
David moved to the West Midlands to work for GKN in 1986, and lives in the constituency. With a wealth of business experience in new product development, he is particularly concerned about the nationwide decline in manufacturing, and lack of investment in our future. The current situation is not helped by the bailed-out banks refusing loans to around half of commercial applicants.
Factory Burgled, Alveley
Police in Bridgnorth are appealing for information after a factory was broken into and metal fixings stolen on a village industrial estate. The premises on Alveley Industrial Estate was burgled between about 7pm on Friday (FEB 26) and 9.45am on Sunday (FEB 28).
A large number of pallets containing metal ingots was stolen, along with a yellow Karcher pressure washer and a Stomp off-road motorbike.
The offender or offenders would have needed a relatively large vehicle or a car with a trailer to have transported the items away.
Burglaries in Village near Bridgnorth
Police are appealing for information following three burglaries in a village near Bridgnorth. Officers are investigating whether two break-ins in Claverley overnight between Friday (FEB 19) and Saturday (FEB 20) are linked to a sneak-in burglary during the early hours of the following morning (FEB 21).
Two addresses in Clover Heath were broken into between about 4pm on Friday and about 8.30am on Saturday.
Crime Victims Have Chance to Recover Stolen Property
Bridgnorth Police officers are urging victims of crime to attend a special viewing of stolen power tools and fishing equipment.
Numerous power tools, including strimmers, lawn mowers, leaf blowers, chain saws and sanders, together with fishing items including around 20 rods, are being put on display at Bridgnorth Police Station from 10am next Wednesday (Feb 10).
Whitburn Street to remain one-way, Bridgnorth
Shropshire Council has agreed Bridgnorth’s Whitburn Street will remain one-way, following discussions with local members and senior council officers.
The original proposal for the street, put forward at a public consultation carried out in November 2009, included a signed pedestrian zone which restricted vehicle access. However, this proposal received a mixed reception and was not supported by the local members due to concerns over congestion and associated access problems.
Bridgnorth Attempted Robbery – Witness Appeal
Police are hunting two men who entered a Shropshire newsagents today, Friday 15th January, threatening staff and demanding money.
The incident happened at the newsagents’ shop in Princess Drive, Bridgnorth, shortly after 6.30am.
A young woman member of staff was struck on the back of her head. She received minor bruising to her neck and was treated by paramedics.
The two men ran off empty-handed moments after the assault when confronted by a male member of staff.
Police Make It A Happy Christmas For Shropshire Pensioner
An 87-year-old Shropshire man robbed of his Christmas savings by masked thugs, has received some seasonal goodwill from his local police. Ted, an RAF war veteran, whose full identity will not been released, was left distraught when the men burst into his home near Bridgnorth earlier this month. They demanded money and threatened to murder his beloved Border Collie dog, Max, if he did not co-operate.
The gang then ransacked his home and stole £200 withdrawn from the bank just a day or two earlier to buy Christmas presents for his family.
Operation Christmas Presence in Bridgnorth
Extra police officers took to the streets across Shropshire as the operational side of Operation Christmas Presence began in the county.
In Bridgnorth, officers were accompanied by local MP Philip Dunne and Shropshire County Councillor John Hurst-Knight, who both asked to go out on patrol to see how the police were dealing with alcohol-related crime and disorder during the festive season.
One man was arrested in Bridgnorth on suspicion of drug offences after suspicious activity in Innage Lane was reported by a community support officer.
People asked to help shape future of cycle forum
Shropshire Council is inviting people along to its next Shropshire Cycle Forum so that they can have their say about how the forum is run and what it should address in the future.
The forum, open to everyone in Shropshire and Telford with an interest in cycling, will take place on Wednesday 2 December 2009 at 7pm at Shirehall in Shrewsbury.
Dogs Stolen from Shropshire Farm – Police Appeal
Police are appealing for information about the theft of two dogs from a farm near Much Wenlock. The black and white springer spaniel bitches were stolen from kennels at Upper House Farm, Brockton between 2pm and 3.30pm yesterday (Nov 26).
Bridgnorth police are appealing for information concerning their whereabouts, and those responsible for the theft. The number to call is 0300 333 3000 or the anonymous Crimestoppers number, 0800 555 111.
