A high value lawn mower and some red diesel have been stolen from a cricket club in a village near Shrewsbury.

Police are appealing for information after an outbuilding at Pontesbury Cricket Club was broken into between about 9pm on Thursday(JUL 22) and 10am on Friday(JUL 23).

A green Atco mower was stolen, along with about 20 litres of red diesel.
Anyone who might have seen or heard any suspicious persons or vehicles in the area during the relevant times is asked to contact police on 0300 333 3000.

PostHeaderIcon Distraction burglary in Bridgnorth

Distraction thieves pretending to be from the council have stolen cash and an engagement ring from an 85-year-old Bridgnorth woman.

Two men called at the home in Cricket Meadow between 1pm and 1.20pm on Saturday claiming to be replacing garden fences and putting up CCTV cameras.

It’s thought one man entered the home and carried out a search while the other kept talking to the occupier, telling her they were from the council. The men left soon after.

A three diamond white gold engagement ring and £100 were missing.

Local school children from across the West Midlands will be taking part in the Olympics 2012 Inspire to Aim Higher event, hosted at the RAF Museum Cosford on Tuesday 25th May. This special event is a collaboration which aims to promote participation, inclusion and competition, whilst highlighting the values of the Olympic and Paralympic movement.

The day will commence with an opening ceremony including music supplied by the RAF Cosford band, a performance from the Idsall School dance group and an introduction to the day's activities.

Telford & Wrekin Council has organised a fun-packed programme of activities for young people throughout the borough this half-term, which runs from Monday, 15 to Friday, 19 February 2010.

The first holiday programme of 2010 promises to be great fun while offering something for everyone with a wide variety of activities every day.

Newport, Oakengates and Wellington pools have crash course swimming lessons available for juniors – or if skating is of more interest, Telford Ice Rink is running a course for any age or ability.

The management at Shropshire’s West Mid Showground have revealed they have been 'forced' to cancel the 2009 bonfire and firework spectacular at the last minute. The event was due to take place this weekend marking the close of the bi-centenary year of the birth of Shropshire-born naturalist Charles Darwin. But the society has experienced financial problems amid the recession and the effect of the economic crisis and demands from suppliers means the November 7 event cannot go ahead.

A family fun day is being staged in Norton-in-Hales, near Market Drayton on Sunday with a friendly cricket match as one of the main attractions.

The event has been organised by the Local Policing Officer for Market Drayton Rural North, PC Paul Frank with assistance from police colleagues and supported by other members of the local community.

A local police team has thrown down a challenge to the Norton-in-Hales B team, with the match being played at the village cricket ground.

Runners, joggers and walkers of all ages will be joining the event in the Town Park to make it a colourful spectacle.

Telford’s Got Talent winner Daniel is also starting to practice songs from different genres such as musical theatre and rock to help him broaden his live repertoire. But he’s promised his fans that R&B will remain his first love as he prepares for the event in Telford Town Park on Saturday August 29.

Shropshire Police officers are organising a host of summer activities to mark “Respect Week” highlighting efforts to reduce anti-social behaviour through working with young people. Local Policing teams in West Mercia – including Shropshire Division – have been leading the way in providing constructive and enjoyable activities for young people as part of their community engagement programmes.

Their efforts have succeeded in building bridges between the police and youngsters and also between young people and other sections of the local community.
