County Council announces dates for Shrewsbury Relief Road consultation
Shropshire Council will be asking for people’s views about the Shrewsbury North West Relief Road next month.
An extensive public consultation will take place from 13 April until 16 May 2010. It will enable local people to view the details of the project and identify its potential benefits and possible negative impacts.
Keen to get as many people involved as possible, the council will be gathering people’s views in a number of different ways:

Shrewsbury firework display CANCELLED

The event was due to take place this weekend marking the close of the bi-centenary year of the birth of Shropshire-born naturalist Charles Darwin. But the society has experienced financial problems amid the recession and the effect of the economic crisis and demands from suppliers means the November 7 event cannot go ahead.
Special Constabulary Recruitment Drive
A recruitment drive is being launched to boost the numbers of volunteers who serve as Special Constables across Shropshire. There are currently 51 Specials in Shropshire Division compared with over 100 just three years ago. But now the Division is making determined efforts to attract newcomers and to boost the numbers back to previous levels.
