Telford and Wrekin Results shock
The election results in the Telford and Wrekin constituencies certainly provided some drama. At one point it was expected that the Telford Count would be reported at 1am, but this was delayed. In fact the Wrekin Count was finished before the Telford result was declared. In the event, both declarations were made by Chief Executive Victor Brownlees by around 2am. Somewhat earlier than in previous elections, it must be noted.
Wellington Workhouse final performance
This Wednesday (31 March) children from Wrekin View Primary School delivered a promenade drama performance through Wellington Library to illustrate the amazing history of the building - which was at one time a workhouse for poor people from the Wellington and surrounding areas.
Over the last two school terms children from Wrekin View and Apley Wood Primary Schools, plus history and drama students at Charlton School have been working with Shropshire Archives, Telford Libraries and Appletree Theatre Company.
Oakengates Theatre @ the place invites youth participation
Comedian Stephen K Amos’ top-selling show, ‘The Feelgood Factor’, coincided with Oakengates Theatre’s celebration of the first anniversary of ‘A Night Less Ordinary’, the Arts Council scheme which provides free theatre tickets to people under 26.
One of the young people commented, “The show was great and we really enjoyed it. I think the scheme is a brilliant idea as it gives younger people a chance to experience different areas of culture which could broaden their interests.”

Lights ! Music ! Drama! – and loads of laughs
I have to say that a new landmark has indeed been set by an enterprising drama group in Telford. To present as well as stage such a composite event as a triple bill is difficult for even professional groups to pull off successfully Once again utilising consummate skill the HADS and their production team brought a unique show experience to the amateur stage in Telford and set a new benchmark in local dramatic entertainment
