Drug warrant executed in Oakengates
Three men have this morning been arrested after police officers from the North and Newport Local Policing Teams (LPTs) executed a warrant under the Misuse of Drugs Act at a property on Holyhead Road in Oakengates.
The warrant was executed at 8am on Friday 3rd September as a result of intelligence developed by the Ketley & Oakengates LPT and information received from members of the public via the anonymous Crimestoppers telephone number.
New safety scheme at Hadley Learning Community
A new safety scheme to prevent off road bikes, quads and mini motos using the grounds at Hadley Learning Community has been completed with the installation of permanent barriers.
Both school users and members of the community accessing facilities at Hadley Learning Community were being put in danger by the illegal use of such vehicles.
The Safer Stronger Communities Partnership to include West Mercia Police, Hadley & Leegomery Parish Council and Interserve have worked together to achieve a more sustainable solution following criminal damage to previous installations.
Greenhous staff get into training for a 90 mile bicycle ride for charity
Greenhous employees from Shrewsbury and Telford’s Vauxhall and Saab dealerships are swapping cars for bicycles as they prepare to help raise money for the Layla Jane Pitt Remembrance Trust by participating in a gruelling 90-mile cycle ride from Telford to Porthmadog in North Wales later this month. The bike ride will see the team of sponsored cyclists travel up and over the challenging Berwyn Mountains, climbing more than 800 metres above sea level, and then back down again into the coastal town of Porthmadog at around 4pm.
Burglary at Hadley building site
Officers based in Telford are appealing for information following a burglary in Hadley. The incident occurred at an address on Haybridge Road sometime between 1pm on Friday 30th July and 7am on Monday 2nd August.
Sometime during the time period in question it appears that thieves broke into the property, which is in the process of being built, by forcing open one of the four fire doors. They then carried out a search of the building before stealing a number of items and making their escape.
Burglary in Hadley
Officers based in Telford are appealing for information following a burglary in Hadley. The incident occurred at an address on The Nettlefolds on Monday 2nd August.
Sometime between 11.30am and 4.30pm it appears that thieves broke into the property by throwing a brick through a window at the rear and then reaching in and opening it.
They then carried out a search of the property before stealing around £900 in cash and making their escape. In addition it is estimated that around £500 of damage was caused to the property as a result of this break in.
Healthy baby day at Hadley Library
Telford & Wrekin Council has organised a special event for under 5s and their parents and carers to get help and advice. The Healthy Baby Day is part of the libraries' NHS Baby LifeCheck project.
The drop-in event is being held at Hadley Library at Hadley Learning Community (HLC) on 30 June from 10am to 2pm.
Telford & Wrekin Music Big Sing 2010
One thousand five hundred pupils from primary schools across the borough are coming together for a summer mass celebration of singing and music on Tuesday 29 June.
The 'Telford Big Sing 2010' will take place at AFC Telford United Football Stadium and follows on from the successful Big Sing 2009 at AFC Telford United. Both events are organised by Telford & Wrekin Music and led by Mary Keith and Paul Wilcox.
Jobs boost for borough will help borough markets
Telford & Wrekin Council is recruiting for two new posts to help change the face of the borough's markets. A new Markets Manager and Markets Assistant are being sought to take the markets forward and develop them as part of the Borough Towns Initiative.
Working in partnership with town and parish councils, the Council is seeking to manage and promote its markets in Dawley, Hadley, Madeley and Oakengates and develop a programme of themed and specialist markets across the borough.
Mini digger stolen in Hadley
Telford Police officers are appealing for information following a theft in Hadley. The incident occurred at address on the High Street on Wednesday 12th May.
Sometime between 2pm and 3pm it appears that thieves entered the rear garden at the property by accessing it via the garden on the derelict property that is next door.
Once inside the garden it appears that thieves targeted and stole a mini garden digger worth around £300 before making their escape.
Post Office solution for Leegomery proposed
Campaigners seeking to reinstate a post office in Leegomery have come up with a possible solution to for the service.
Telford & Wrekin Council with Hadley & Leegomery Parish councillor Ron Plenderleith and local campaigners are urging the Post Office to start an outreach post office two days a week in the centre to provide some services for residents.
The Council says the original Leegomery Post Office, closed after it was burnt in a fire at the centre in 2005, was shut without proper consultation.
