PostHeaderIcon Planning permission granted for £6 million Telford development

A proposal by Wrekin Housing Trust for the redevelopment of Dothill has approved by Telford & Wrekin Council.

The development of Dothill in Wellington will see the demolition of 90 flats, to be replaced with 59 new homes including two, three and four bedroom houses, three bedroom maisonettes and two bedroom flats. The flats are designed to be modern and contemporary. Parking will be fully catered for, located to be accessible to the homes. All the houses will feature gardens, residents in the flats will have ‘private’ communal garden spaces.

PostHeaderIcon Bon voyage to Moorfield Primary School students

Students from a Newport primary school are heading abroad for an action packed trip to France, today. The pupils from Moorfield Primary School will be returning on Friday (MAR 12).

The journey starts at the school where they will be grabbing their seats on the coach ready to drive down to board the ferry from Portsmouth to Cherbourg.

The Year Six pupils will be staying at Chateau Beaumont in Les Courges, Chailland, where they will be able to zip wire across tree tops and scale climbing walls at the outdoor activity centre.

The new and improved First Point Telford has opened in Civic Offices and residents are now visiting for help, advice and information from a wide range of Council and partner services.

The new facility has built on the success of the credit crunch advice centre which opened last February in Telford Library.

Police are urging garden shed owners in Shropshire to maintain security to protect gardening equipment and other valuable items. The warning comes as gardeners prepare for the new season and are likely to be checking lawnmowers, power tools and other major equipment.

Several shed burglaries have already been reported around the county in recent weeks and police are anxious owners step up security wherever necessary.

Shropshire Division’s crime prevention manager, PC Tim Weaver has issued a series of tips under the catchphrase “Sheducate”.

Severn Trent Water has announced it will be concentrating on emergency work only from now until early next week. This is in response to the current and forecast weather situation for the weekend and beyond.

The company's senior operations manager, Fraser Pithie said: "We will be concentrating our response on emergency work only – this means only where we have burst water mains or blocked sewers that directly affect the services our customers receive".

New gifts such as electrical items should be security marked and the empty boxes should not be left on view outside to let burglars know the type of items you have in your home.
