This summer holiday the Royal Air Force Museum Cosford has created a range of activities running from 1-31 August, that will get families working together and having fun. Each week throughout the school holiday will have an exciting activity dedicated to it; plus a drawing competition running at weekends and Bank Holiday Monday, where participants stand a chance of winning a £15 voucher to spend in the Royal Air Force Museum Shop.

PostHeaderIcon Reach for the skies with a glider weekend

The British Gliding Association plus Wrekin and Staffordshire Gliding Clubs will be putting on a glider weekend for visitors at the Royal Air Force Museum Cosford on Saturday 24th and Sunday 25th July 2010.

Wrekin and Staffordshire Gliding Clubs are offering visitors the chance to buy trial flights for a discounted price of only £60 per person. This includes a 20 minute flight up to 2000ft in a two seater glider with a qualified instructor. These unique trial flights will be available from 10.00am to 5.00pm both days to visitors over the age of 14 (weather permitting).

The Royal Air Force Museum Cosford was last night crowned Winners of the ‘Small Employer of the Year Award 2010’ at The National Apprenticeship Awards 2010, an Oscar style awards ceremony in London.

Currently five apprentices are employed in the Museum’s Michael Beetham Conservation Centre. MBCC Manager Mr Tim Wallis and Training Manager, Mick Shepherd, were presented the award by Mr Peter Butler of BT, who sponsored the Small Employer of the Year category.

On Saturday 24th July, Blists Hill Victorian Town in Shropshire's Ironbridge Gorge, will be taking part in the Cultural Olympiad's Open Weekend by putting on a variety of 'Amusements and Distractions' on the Village Green. The day's events will showcase a range of traditional theatrical performance styles and give a taste of what a Victorian audience might have enjoyed back in the 1800s.

Hundreds of scale models of iconic aircraft will be taking to the skies this weekend at the annual Large Model Aircraft Rally taking place at the Royal Air Force Museum Cosford. This famous air show in miniature is an absolute must see for any aviation enthusiast, attracting in excess of 10,000 visitors during the two-day event.

PostHeaderIcon Memorial model to be on display at RAF Cosford

A scale model of the recently commissioned Bomber Command Memorial will be on display at the Royal Air Force Museum Cosford as part of the National Service (RAF) Association parade taking place on Sunday 4th July 2010.

The model will be on display in the Museum’s Hangar 1 and Project Coordinator David Forsyth, an MOD civilian who works in the RAF Directorate of Air Staff will be there to speak with veterans and visitors about the project and answer any questions they may have.

A family fun day organised by Telford & Wrekin Council's disabled children's team aims to build on the success of last year's event.

Ican2 will be opened by Paralympian gold medallist Debbie Brennan and Councillor Stephen Burrell, Telford & Wrekin Council's cabinet member for children and young people.

The free event runs from 11am-4pm on Saturday June 19 at Telford International Centre and is aimed at disabled children and those with additional needs.

Visitors to Cosford Air Show 2010 will be swept back in time not only to the days of the Battle of Britain but to the jaw-dropping time of the first ever RAF air show at Hendon. Preparations for the annual event at RAF Cosford on the Shropshire-Staffordshire border on June 14 are well under way.

And the thousands of visitors set to attend in 2010 will be wowed by a variety of entertainment both in the air and on the ground.

The annual show features the only RAF flying display in the Midlands and one of only a handful nationwide.
