Weatherbird to croon at Park Live after winning radio vote
Families are encouraged to come to Park Live, the free festival organised by Telford & Wrekin Council, which takes place this Saturday (4th September) in Telford Town Park from 1pm. The winners of the Beacon Radio's Listeners Choice competition, Weatherbird, will open the music festival at 1.15pm.
Weatherbird won the Beacon Radio Listeners' Choice competition beating off three other local bands. Listeners had the chance to vote online for which of the four bands they liked the best.
SUMMER ART PROJECTS to help boost young people’s prospects

School leavers and other young people in Telford and Wrekin are being encouraged to attend one of a series of five day projects aimed at boosting their motivation and inspiration.
Telford & Wrekin Council’s Connexions 4 Youth service is running three separate five day projects that will involve a combination of visual arts, film making, photography, music sampling, animation, song writing, blogging, music production and other creative activities.
Lloyds TSB improves student account package for 2010

Telford & Wrekin Music Big Sing 2010
One thousand five hundred pupils from primary schools across the borough are coming together for a summer mass celebration of singing and music on Tuesday 29 June.
The 'Telford Big Sing 2010' will take place at AFC Telford United Football Stadium and follows on from the successful Big Sing 2009 at AFC Telford United. Both events are organised by Telford & Wrekin Music and led by Mary Keith and Paul Wilcox.
Back in Time
Visitors to Cosford Air Show 2010 will be swept back in time not only to the days of the Battle of Britain but to the jaw-dropping time of the first ever RAF air show at Hendon. Preparations for the annual event at RAF Cosford on the Shropshire-Staffordshire border on June 14 are well under way.
And the thousands of visitors set to attend in 2010 will be wowed by a variety of entertainment both in the air and on the ground.
The annual show features the only RAF flying display in the Midlands and one of only a handful nationwide.
Schools set to participate in local Olympics
Local school children from across the West Midlands will be taking part in the Olympics 2012 Inspire to Aim Higher event, hosted at the RAF Museum Cosford on Tuesday 25th May. This special event is a collaboration which aims to promote participation, inclusion and competition, whilst highlighting the values of the Olympic and Paralympic movement.
The day will commence with an opening ceremony including music supplied by the RAF Cosford band, a performance from the Idsall School dance group and an introduction to the day's activities.
Telford's St George's Day celebrations
Telford's St George's Day celebrations at the weekend were a huge success with thousands of visitors coming through the town park to sample the medieval party atmosphere.
It was the second year of St George's Day celebrations organised by Telford & Wrekin Council and featured a day packed full of activities, performances and stalls inside Telford Library and outside in Southwater Square and the Town Park.
The attending crowds were able to savour gloriously sunny weather as they enjoyed the various entertainments and craft activities.
Family Fun on Saturday
Telford and Wrekin Borough Council are asking people to mark St George’s Day the day after St George’s Day on Saturday 24 April 2010, when all borough residents are invited to Southwater Square to take part in a Medieval party atmosphere.
Telford & Wrekin Council is organising its second year of St Georges Day celebrations – a day packed full of activities, performances and stalls inside Telford Library and outside in the square and Town Park.
