PostHeaderIcon Public meetings in Donnington

The Donnington Partnership – a multi-agency group set up in the ward to work with local people to tackle quality of life issues – have confirmed that they will be holding the first in a series of newly launched public ‘workshop sessions’ on Monday 15th March.
The sessions are being launched in an attempt to engage with more local residents via a new forum and give them the opportunity to share their concerns about crime and anti-social behaviour with the organisations that can help to address them.

PostHeaderIcon Appeal for Wanted Man

West Mercia Police is appealing for information on the whereabouts of a wanted man. James ‘Jimmy’ Stevens is wanted for a breach of his licence conditions, one of which is for him to reside in Worcester.

Detective inspector Jim Fox, of South Worcestershire Police, said: “James Stevens is wanted by police and we would ask anyone who knows of his whereabouts to contact us urgently. He could be in the Worcester area but has strong connections with Telford.

PostHeaderIcon Six men charged in human trafficking investigation

Detective Superintendent Steve Cullen has confirmed that six men will this morning be appearing at Telford Magistrates Court charged with a number of human trafficking offences.

The charges have been brought as part of an ongoing, long-term operation into human trafficking and sexual offences that is being conducted in conjunction with a number of partner agencies.

Detective Superintendent Cullen, who is leading this investigation, said:

One of the most famous of pieces, Vivaldi's "Gloria" is to be performed at Shrewsbury Abbey 20th March by one of the largest groups of young voices in the county. The concert will also feature two brilliant violinists, both of whom are music scholars at Wrekin College; Matthew Duffield and Freyja Clarke. They will, together with the College Orchestra, perform Bach's famous double violin concerto.

PostHeaderIcon Renewed Appeal for Witnesses over Missing Shrewsbury Teenager

Detectives leading the search for a Shrewsbury teenager who has not been seen or heard from in over a month today renewed an appeal for information.

Officers continue to actively investigate the disappearance of Hayden Reynolds-Evans, 18, who was last seen when he left The Albion Vaults pub in the town centre just after 10pm on Monday, 1st February.

A specialist team was brought in yesterday(MAR 9) to carry out a search of the River Severn using sonar equipment, the results of which are currently being analysed.

PostHeaderIcon Borough libraries to hold more ancestry family history taster sessions

Following the recent success of introductory sessions on how to do basic searches on Ancestry Online, Telford & Wrekin libraries are running further sessions at different libraries across the borough.

The session’s last one hour and cover useful searching techniques for census records, births, marriages and deaths, as well as immigration and emigration records.

The next sessions are at Stirchley library on Tuesday, 16 March from 2 to 3pm and 3.15pm to 4.15pm. Booking is essential. Please telephone 01952 382980 to reserve your place.

PostHeaderIcon Wellington Traders: Please attend the Wellington Regeneration Traders Meeting

Telford & Wrekin Council is urging all traders in Wellington to attend a meeting to discuss the regeneration works that will be taking place this year.

Market stalls and local shops have received flyers advertising the meeting that will take place on Tuesday 16 March, 6pm at All Saints Parish Church hall.

At the meeting, local traders will be able to ask council officers questions about the regeneration works and raise any issues or concerns that they may have.
