Postal votes issued for Parish Council by-elections
Just over 5,000 postal votes have now been issued to postal voters in three parish wards who go to the polls next Thursday (March 11).
By elections are being held for the Hadley and Leegomery Ward of Hadley & Leegomery Parish Council, the Central Ward of Lawley & Overdale Parish Council and the Oakengates Ward of Oakengates Town Council.
Telford and Wrekin has the fifth highest number of postal voters in the country, with one in three of borough electors voting by post.
Oswestry Murder Inquiry – update
Shropshire police can confirm that the man’s body was found at an industrial unit in St Martins, several miles from Oswestry.
No formal identification of the bodies has yet been made. Police investigations into the deaths are continuing.
A Home Office pathologist will conduct post mortems to establish the cause of death. The post mortem times have yet to be arranged.
Witness Appeal to Fatal Road Collision near Shawbury
Police are appealing for witnesses to a fatal road collision just outside a North Shropshire village in which a woman died.
The crash happened on the A53 just south of Shawbury at about 5pm yesterday, January 25, when a blue Vauxhall Corsa heading towards the village was in collision with a green Volvo articulated grain lorry travelling in the opposite direction.
The female driver of the Corsa suffered multiple injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene by paramedics. The driver of the lorry was treated at the scene for shock.
Shrewsbury Murder Inquiry – Four Remain in Custody
Four men arrested in connection with the death of a 52-year-old Shrewsbury man were still being questioned by police today. The four were taken into custody on suspicion of murder after the man was found with serious stab wounds at a flat in Kynaston Road, Harlescott on Wednesday night. He was taken to the Royal Shrewsbury Hospital but pronounced dead a short time later.
Murder Inquiry Launched in Shrewsbury
Police in Shropshire have launched a murder inquiry following the death of a 52-year-old man in Shrewsbury.
The man was found with stab wounds at a flat in Kynaston Road, Harlescott at around 6.15pm last night. He was taken to the Royal Shrewsbury Hospital by ambulance but was pronounced dead soon after.
Four men have been arrested on suspicion of murder and are in custody at Shrewsbury and Telford police stations.

Car crimes in Woodside
Police in Telford are investigating after a number of cars were broken into in Woodside at the weekend. So far four incidents have been reported that appear to have occurred on Saturday 2nd January.
The incidents reported to police all occurred on Warrensway and Wealdstone sometime between 6pm and 11.30pm on Saturday.
Man’s Body Found in Shropshire Pool
Police are investigating the death of an elderly man whose body was found in a pool at Shrewsbury early today. No formal identification has yet been made, but it’s believed to be a man in his eighties previously reported missing from his home in the town.
The body was found in Oxon Pool just before 1.30am today following a police search. It was recovered from the water by Shropshire Fire and Rescue Service.
Community meeting to discuss Abraham Darby plans
Ambitious plans to rebuild the Abraham Darby Academy as the boroughs first state of the art Sports and Learning Community are the focus of a public meeting for local residents on 25 November.
Construction firm Kier Group has submitted plans to Telford & Wrekin Council for the new Abraham Darby Sports and Learning Community as part of the authority’s Borough Towns Initiative programme of regeneration.

Shrewsbury Police trying to trace dead man's family
Shrewsbury Police are attempting to trace the relatives of an elderly man found dead at his home in the town. David Kenneth Heywood, aged 70, was discovered on Monday night after police and fire officers gained entry to his house in Harlescott. The emergency services had been alerted by a concerned neighbour. A post mortem is to be held but there are no suspicious circumstances.
Coroner’s officer Mr Phil Tyler said today: “Although Mr Heywood was fairly well known in the local community, we have been unable to trace any relatives.
