More cars clamped
Wellington News can report that at least one more car was clamped today on waste land off Espley Close, next to the former Barley Mow pub, which is being converted into a hairdresser and beauty salon.
Two cars were on the land at 15.45, but one was not clamped. A passer-by said: "It's a little chap with spiky hair. He hangs around in the pool hall. There's another car that's often there, but it is never clamped. I wonder why that is?"
A woman reported that her elderly father was charged £250 for parking there earlier in the week.

Nurse clamped in Wellington
A nurse was clamped by car clamping company SPS in Wellington. The land, next to the new Escape Hair and Beauty establishment (due to open next month) has been used as an unoficial car park since the Barley Mow pub was closed down two years ago.
Burglary in Bowring Grove, Wellington
Police in Telford are appealing for witnesses following a burglary in Wellington. The incident occurred at an address on Bowring Grove sometime between 11am on Monday 26th July and 12pm on Wednesday 28th July.
Sometime during the time period in question it appears that thieves broke into the property by smashing a window in the patio doors and reaching in and opening them from the inside.
Windows smashed in Plough Road, Wellington
Police officers are investigating an act of criminal damage in Wellington. The incident occurred on Plough Road on Monday 26th July.
Sometime between 6.15pm and 6.30pm a member of the public witnessed two unknown individuals - a man and a woman - walking down Plough Road when an argument started between the two of them.
Eventually the woman 'stormed off' and when she did the man turned back in the direction that he had come from. Without warning he then punched out two windows of a business premises on the street causing around £200 of damage.
Four new scholarships for postgraduate students

Police Praise Bank Staff Over Church Stretton Bogus Callers
Police have praised staff at a Church Stretton bank for preventing an elderly woman falling victim to bogus callers.
Staff at the Lloyds TSB branch in the High Street alerted police when the 78-year-old customer came into the bank today asking to withdraw a large sum of cash to pay two men for doing gardening work at her home.
Detective Inspector Sarah Wagstaff said: "Their suspicions were raised because the lady seemed confused and anxious.
Wellington's phantom wheel clamper
Have you been victim of the phantom clamper in Wellington?
Well, if not you might well be if you venture onto the piece of, what looks like waste land adjoining the premises that used to be the Barley Mow public house at the end of Bell Street.
Mysterious signs have been attached to the wall of the waste land informing motorists that the land is private and clamping might take place.
The signs are placed quite high on the wall and could easily be missed. The lettering is quite small, but clearly the land is private and motorists have no right to park there.
Burglary in Shrewsbury
Police are investigating a burglary in Shrewsbury in which a BMX bike was stolen from a garden shed.
The breakin happened between Sunday, July 18 and the following Tuesday at a home in Westbury Road.
A black 3 style BMX Concept cycle worth £200 and green petrol canister were stolen. The bike has the words “3 Style Concept” in gold lettering on the cross bar and the words “GO EASY” in bubble writing.
