Powers tools stolen in Alkington
Police are appealing for information after a garage was broken into at a home near Whitchurch and power tools worth more than £7,000 removed.
A sit-on lawnmower, strimmer and pressure washer were all taken from the garage at a farm in Alkington. But all the items were recovered nearby.
It's thought the thieves, who forced the door on the garage, had been planning to return to collect the items.
The break-in happened between 11pm on Sunday and 9am yesterday (Monday). Police are appealing for information.
Alcohol Exclusion Order for Shrewsbury Fields
An alcohol exclusion zone is set to be put in place in two fields near Shrewsbury's Quarry park to tackle underage drinking in the area.
A designated public place order has already been in place in The Quarry itself for a number of years following historical complaints of youths drinking and behaving in an anti-social manner.
While successfully reducing problems in the park and it is now common knowledge among youngsters that they cannot congregate, 'get drunk' and cause a nuisance in The Quarry, the issue has displaced across the river into Beck and Burrs Fields.
Balhousie boss issues immediate prescription for Elderly Care following Panorama Special
The chairman of a provider of residential care called on the Coalition to act immediately and start redressing the huge funding deficit facing elderly care in Britain.
"We need immediate action and not another commission reporting next year," said Tony Banks, chairman of the Balhousie Care Group. "Funding for elderly care is the biggest issue facing bankrupt Britain and politicians have to deal with it and not push it onto the back burner."
Bridgnorth Tools Police Appeal
Police trying to trace the owners of a haul of workmen’s tools believe they may have been stolen from the Bridgnorth area.
Over 20 power tools and specialist carpentry items were seized by police who carried out a search warrant at a house in Sandpits Avenue, Ludlow earlier this month.
The tools are thought to have been stolen but police have been unable to trace the owners. They are appealing to anyone in Shropshire, Herefordshire, Worcestershire or Dyfed Powys areas to get in touch if they have had similar tools stolen during the past few weeks.
Telford & Wrekin Music Big Sing 2010
One thousand five hundred pupils from primary schools across the borough are coming together for a summer mass celebration of singing and music on Tuesday 29 June.
The 'Telford Big Sing 2010' will take place at AFC Telford United Football Stadium and follows on from the successful Big Sing 2009 at AFC Telford United. Both events are organised by Telford & Wrekin Music and led by Mary Keith and Paul Wilcox.
Power cut hits
There have been power cuts over night and this morning, Wellington News can report.
Homes and business premises in Wellington were hit and power cuts as far away as Puleston near Newport were reported.
Railway detonators stolen in Sutton Hill
Police in Telford are appealing for information following a theft in Sutton Hill. The incident occurred on Sunnymead on Friday 23rd April.
Sometime between 2.30pm and 9pm it appears that thieves stole a Toyota Hilux van that was parked in a parking bay on the street. The van – which was owned by Network Rail – may well have been stolen using the keys as it appears that the driver had accidentally dropped them out of his pocket without realising as he returned to his home address.
New vehicles launched to speed up response time

A new fleet of vehicles has been launched by Telford & Wrekin Council to work together to target environmental issues and help tidy up the borough.
The Rapid Response Service was launched at the weekend and aims to speed up response times by having dedicated teams to target different problems in the local environment.
Eco Warriors camp near Wellington
Eco warriors have created a camp in woodland under The Wrekin near the hamlet of New Works, near Wellington. Their Don't Wreck The Wrekin protest camp is growing and hundreds may well be expected from April 1st to April 4th when they launch Fossil Fools Day - a protest about plans to open cast huge tracts of land under The Wrekin for 6 months worth of coal causing disruption to the countryside for four years or more.
They plan to have a permanent camp on the site and to disrupt the open casting wherever possible. They say it is a peaceful protest.
Rescue the Easter Bunny!
Around this time of year it’s impossible to open a magazine or turn on the TV without seeing a cute rabbit. They’re everywhere on billboards, in magazines, and on packaging up and down the aisles of supermarkets. It’s no wonder that sales of pet rabbits explode at Easter. It’s at this time of year that ‘pester power’ comes into its own, with children begging their parents for a lovely fluffy bunny.
