Renewed Appeal for Witnesses over Missing Shrewsbury Teenager
Detectives leading the search for a Shrewsbury teenager who has not been seen or heard from in over a month today renewed an appeal for information.
Officers continue to actively investigate the disappearance of Hayden Reynolds-Evans, 18, who was last seen when he left The Albion Vaults pub in the town centre just after 10pm on Monday, 1st February.
A specialist team was brought in yesterday(MAR 9) to carry out a search of the River Severn using sonar equipment, the results of which are currently being analysed.
Assault at Telford Bus Station
Police officers are investigating an assault in Telford Shopping Centre. The incident occurred at the bus station on Tuesday 9th March.
At just after 6pm it appears that the victim, a 19-year-old woman, was waiting for her bus when four girls started to behave in quite an intimidating manner. One of the girls pushed a lady who was waiting for another bus and the victim stepped in and told the girl to leave the lady alone.
The girl responded by punching the victim in the face before getting on to a nearby bus with the other three girls and leaving the scene.
PC amazed by story
PC Angela Leech, who is based at Malinsgate Police Station, has spoken of her amazement after two generous members of the public came forward to offer money and belongings to a 44-year-old man who was the victim of a burglary in Brookside back in February.
Burglar youths sentenced
Detective Inspector Pete Brophy, head of the Specialist Operations Department at Malinsgate Police Station, has expressed his satisfaction at seeing two juveniles given custodial sentences this week for burglaries they recently carried out in Telford.
Local celebrity marks 90th Birthday
Ted Cowling celebrated his 90 birthday recently with a special party for 100 guests at the Pheasant Inn, Admaston. Ted has lived a full and varied life. “Two years ago my late wife and I won the Most Romantic Couple in Britain award. And last year I was invited to attend a Garden Party at Buckingham Palace by the Queen.”
Purse theft appeal
Police in Telford are appealing for help from the public as they attempt to identify a potentially vital witness to a purse theft in Telford town centre earlier this year. The incident took place in the Asda supermarket on The Border, Telford Centre, on Monday 18th January.
At around 1.50pm, the victim – a 58-year-old lady – was making her way down an aisle when she put her plastic shopping bag down to look at some items on a display. When she finished looking she moved on without picking up the bag.
Borough prepares for by-elections for Parish Council seats
On Thursday (March 11) voters in three parish wards go to the polls to decide who will represent them on their parish councils.
By-elections are being held for the Hadley and Leegomery Ward of Hadley & Leegomery Parish Council, Central Ward Lawley & Overdale Parish Council and Oakengates Ward of Oakengates Town Council.
Polling stations will be open from 7am until 10pm on Thursday for those wanting to cast their votes in person.
Burglary in Bembridge
Telford Police are investigating a burglary in Brookside. The incident occurred at an address on Bembridge on Friday 12th February.
At just after 5.30pm it appears that thieves broke into the flat by forcing open the front door. They then entered the property and stole a number of items from inside before making their escape.
The stolen items include a Nintendo Wii, 10 Wii games, 2 Wii controllers and a Wii battery charger station. The total value of the stolen items is thought to be more than £250.
Items removed from seized BMW
Police officers Malinsgate Police Station are investigating after an extremely unusual incident in Stirchley yesterday afternoon. The incident occurred on Stirchley Avenue on Tuesday 9th February.
At 1.20pm, around an hour after police seized a silver BMW as part of an ongoing investigation, this vehicle was being transported along Stirchley Avenue on a flat bed recovery truck.
Man, 87, shaken by distraction burglary attempt
Police officers from the Specialist Operations Department at Malinsgate Police Station are investigating an attempted distraction burglary in St Georges yesterday afternoon. The incident occurred at an address on Freeston Terrace on Monday 8th February.
Sometime between 4.15pm and 4.30pm the victim – an 87-year-old man – heard a loud knock on his side door and went to answer it. On opening the door he saw an unknown man who asked him if he could borrow a pen.
