Six foot man in Oakengates street robbery
Police in Telford are appealing for witnesses following a robbery in Oakengates. The incident occurred close to Stafford Road on Thursday 11th March.
At just before 10pm, as the victim – a 30-year-old man – walked along a footpath towards the mini roundabout by Oakengates Theatre, he was approached by two unknown men. Without warning, the men grabbed the victim and pushed him off the footpath into a more secluded spot.
The men then threatened the victim and demanded that he hand over his belongings.
Renewed Appeal for Witnesses over Missing Shrewsbury Teenager
Detectives leading the search for a Shrewsbury teenager who has not been seen or heard from in over a month today renewed an appeal for information.
Officers continue to actively investigate the disappearance of Hayden Reynolds-Evans, 18, who was last seen when he left The Albion Vaults pub in the town centre just after 10pm on Monday, 1st February.
A specialist team was brought in yesterday(MAR 9) to carry out a search of the River Severn using sonar equipment, the results of which are currently being analysed.
Wellington Traders: Please attend the Wellington Regeneration Traders Meeting
Telford & Wrekin Council is urging all traders in Wellington to attend a meeting to discuss the regeneration works that will be taking place this year.
Market stalls and local shops have received flyers advertising the meeting that will take place on Tuesday 16 March, 6pm at All Saints Parish Church hall.
At the meeting, local traders will be able to ask council officers questions about the regeneration works and raise any issues or concerns that they may have.
Refurb for Wellington’s ‘oldest pub’
What is thought to be Wellington’s oldest trading pub, The White Lion in Crown Street, has been given a new lease of life, after being taken over by new management.
A spokesman for the White Lion said: “Although the inside of the pub was sound, it was in need of a make-over, so we decided to close down for several days, while a team of skilled tradesmen and women worked on the pub. And all praise to them, because in the time that was available to them, they did an absolutely first rate job.”

Telford & Wrekin Council is urging residents, businesses and community groups to come along to a drop-in workshop to help plan for the regeneration of Oakengates this weekend.
Urban Designer David Orr has already held a successful walkabout in the town to identify what the current issues and challenges are for the local community and what they see as priority for making future improvements.
And residents will be given another opportunity on Saturday to participate in various activities alongside David Orr and council officers to think about the future of their town.
Postal votes issued for Parish Council by-elections
Just over 5,000 postal votes have now been issued to postal voters in three parish wards who go to the polls next Thursday (March 11).
By elections are being held for the Hadley and Leegomery Ward of Hadley & Leegomery Parish Council, the Central Ward of Lawley & Overdale Parish Council and the Oakengates Ward of Oakengates Town Council.
Telford and Wrekin has the fifth highest number of postal voters in the country, with one in three of borough electors voting by post.
Makeover for Ironbridge continues
Work is now underway on major repairs to the surface of the Wharfage car park in Ironbridge as part of a makeover of the area in time for the new tourist season.
To date £15,000 has already been invested in a major declutter and refurbishment of the historic town which has seen redundant poles and signposts removed and street lights replaced.

White Lion, Wellington, re-opens after renovations
The White Lion, Crown Street, Wellington, has re-opened after being closed for several days for a facelift.
A spokesman for the White Lion said: "it was starting to look a bit tired, so we spent several days of very hard work sorting out the interior of the pub. We have also had another hand pump installed, so we can now offer four real ales at any one time."
