The new and improved First Point Telford has opened in Civic Offices and residents are now visiting for help, advice and information from a wide range of Council and partner services.

The new facility has built on the success of the credit crunch advice centre which opened last February in Telford Library.

Comedian Stephen K Amos’ top-selling show, ‘The Feelgood Factor’, coincided with Oakengates Theatre’s celebration of the first anniversary of ‘A Night Less Ordinary’, the Arts Council scheme which provides free theatre tickets to people under 26.

One of the young people commented, “The show was great and we really enjoyed it. I think the scheme is a brilliant idea as it gives younger people a chance to experience different areas of culture which could broaden their interests.”

Five young local bands who are part of Telford & Wrekin Council’s successful rock school project are gearing up to support experienced band Capture Kendal later this month.

The gig takes place on February 24 at Oakengates Theatre @ The Place and gives an opportunity for bands from local schools and colleges to experience working alongside an excellent three piece band.

Bin collections resumed in Telford and Wrekin today and residents are being asked to leave their rubbish out as crews work to clear the backlog caused by the snow and freezing temperatures.

Rubbish and recycling collections were suspended because of the dangerous conditions yesterday. And residents are being asked for their patience and understanding today as crews work to catch up on bins that were missed.

Residents should leave their rubbish out so that crews can get back to them as soon as they are able.

PostHeaderIcon Rubbish not collected? Take it to a special collection point

Special waste collection points are being set up this week by Telford & Wrekin Council for anyone whose rubbish collections were missed due to the snow and freezing temperatures.

Contractors TWS will set up the collection points in four borough car parks this week to enable residents to get rid of bags of rubbish which have not been collected due to refuse lorries being unable to access some of the borough’s smaller streets.
