Police organise community basketball match
PC John Walters, Local Police Officer for Wrockwardine Wood and Trench, has confirmed that preparations are now almost complete for a community basketball match he has organised.
The match, which will see a police and local authority team take on a team of young people from the local community, is taking place at Oakengates Leisure Centre on Monday 8th March with ‘tip-off’ being at 6pm.
Allegation of Assault in Trench
Police officers in Telford are investigating an alleged assault in Trench. The incident occurred on Trench Road on Thursday 11th February.
Sometime between 8.50 and 9.10am, as the victim, a 14-year-old girl, made her way to school she became aware of a dark coloured car with tinted windows pulling up close to her. Feeling a little uncomfortable she made her way down a nearby alleyway.
Trench firearms incident: Man and woman charged
Police in Telford have confirmed that a man and woman have been charged with attempted murder following an incident in Trench on Wednesday morning that left a man with pellet wounds to his left arm.
The charges are in relation to an incident that took place on James Close at just before 10.30am on Wednesday 20th January. The incident resulted in police receiving a call from a concerned member of the public who believed that a firearm had been discharged at a nearby property.
Criminal damage in Trench
Police officers in Telford are investigating following a criminal damage incident in Trench. The incident occurred at an address on Ashmore Drive on Tuesday 19th January. Sometime between 5pm and 7.20pm it appears that an unknown individual smashed a window on a red Renault Clio that was parked on the drive by throwing a brick through it.
No attempt appears to have been made to enter the vehicle and therefore police are keen to establish exactly why someone may have wanted to damage the car.
Armed incident in Trench
Police in Telford have confirmed they have this morning responded to a call from an address in Trench reporting that a firearm of some sort had been discharged at a nearby property.
Police received the call from a concerned member of the public at 10.25am on Wednesday 20th January and a number of officers responded immediately and rushed to an address on James Close.
Stay off lakes and other frozen water: Police warning
With freezing temperatures continuing, police in Telford today once again warned people to stay off frozen lakes, rivers, canals or ponds for their own safety.
The latest warning comes after police were called to an incident in Trench where two men in their mid 20s were spotted on the ice on Trench Pool at just before 4.30pm on Tuesday 12th January. Both men had ventured to the middle of the pool - which in places is almost 200 metres from the bank - and appeared to think it highly amusing to jump up and down on the ice to see if they could crack it.
Light snow causes chaos
A very light dusting of snow this morning caused chaos on some roads in the Wellington News area. As an example at one point during the rush hour there was a solid line of traffic from the Trench Lock Interchange all the way through Trench Lock and Hadley right up to Haybridge Island. Traffic was at a virtual standstill at some points.

Suspicious incident in Trench
Police in Telford are investigating a suspicious incident in Trench. It appears that on Saturday 12th December an incident of some sort occurred at an address on Trench Road which resulted in a 42-year-old man suffering cuts to his legs and chest which required hospital treatment.
Elderly Trench couple rout wouldbe thief
Telford Police are investigating an attempted robbery that took place in Trench. It occurred in Gibbons Road on Thursday 5th November. At around 10.40pm, as an elderly married couple were walking along the street, an unknown man approached them from the direction of Wade Road and attempted to steal the handbag the 70-year-old lady was carrying.
Preperation for mischief
Ahead of Halloween and Bonfire Night – a period of the year referred to as ‘Mischief Week’ because of the increase in anti-social behaviour that often occurs – police officers and Community Support Officers (CSOs) from North Telford’s Local Policing Teams (LPTs) have launched a series of initiatives aimed at ensuring that the two events pass safely for everyone in the area.
