Police officers are appealing for witnesses following a robbery in Wellington. The incident occurred close to Tan Bank on Friday 27th August.

Sometime between 1am and 2am as the victim, a 24-year-old man, was looking for a taxi, he was approached by three unknown males as he walked down the pathway that runs off New Street between B & M Bargains and the Wellington Methodist Church.

Police in Wellington are again working with their local community to help ease traffic problems in an area of the town. At a number of recent PACT (Partners and Communities Together) Meetings, residents have raised concerns about parking issues along North Road and its side streets. Residents have once again told officials that illegal parking was especially prevalent at the beginning and end of the school day.

PostHeaderIcon Scrapyard burglary

Police are appealing for information following a burglary in Wellington. The incident occurred at a scrapyard on Haybridge Road in the town sometime between 3pm on Saturday 21st August and 9am on Sunday 22nd August.

During the time period in question thieves broke into the scrapyard by scaling the external fence. Once inside the yard they attempted to remove the roof from a storage shed by using a ladder to climb on top. However, it appears they failed in their attempt.

PostHeaderIcon Charlton School targeted in Computer Theft

Wellington Police officers are investigating a burglary in the town. The incident occurred at Charlton School on Severn Drive on Saturday 21st August.

Sometime between 10.50pm and 11.10pm thieves broke into the school by breaking a pane of glass in a fire exit door and climbing in through the hole.

The thieves then made their way through the school’s dining room into the theatre hall before entering a charging cabinet where laptop computers are kept.

A police operation was ongoing in Wellington this afternoon. The West Mercia police helicopter was flying over the town and hovering over certain areas of the town and the surrounding area.

Wellington News has placed a call with the force press office to try to establish the nature of the operation.

PostHeaderIcon Different doors at Wellington Leisure Centre

Due to the ongoing development works it will be necessary to close the main entrance to the Wellington Civic & Leisure Centre on Thursday and Friday of this week.

Dave Morgan, a council spokesman said: “The main entrance to the building will be closed on Thursday 18/08/10 and Friday 19/08/10. Alternative access is possible from the West car park through the Civic entrance and from the East car park through the entrance adjacent to Wellington Coffee Shop. We apologise for any inconvenience caused."
