Police officers in Telford are investigating following an incident in Wellington where two men were assaulted. The incident occurred on Station Road in the early hours of Sunday 25th July.

Sometime between 2am and 2.30am, shortly after the two victims - an 18-year-old man and a 19-year-old man – left the Station Hotel they were approached aggressively by a group of unknown men.

One of the men asked the victims if they had a problem and, although they said they didn’t, without warning several of the unknown men began to punch and kick the victims.

Both the victims fell to the floor during the assault and although the men continued to kick them an unknown voice was heard to shout at the men and they then quickly fled the scene.

A police spokesman said: “After the men were shouted at they quickly made off in the direction of WH Smith and were then not seen again by the victims.

“The victims are very shaken by this incident and both men suffered a number of cuts and bruises to their body and head as a result of the attack. However, thankfully neither of the men suffered any serious injuries during this incident.

“At the present time no detailed descriptions of the offenders are available although the victims believe that as many as ten men may have been in the group that attacked them. The victims also state that the unknown man that initially approached them was of Asian origin.

“Anyone with information about this incident, or who witnessed it, is asked to call police in Telford on 0300 333 3000 or Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.”
