A football project aimed at providing young people in Telford with a unique chance to experience life at a Championship club has been hailed a massive success. A total of 56 young people - aged between 9 and 17 - from the borough were invited to Wolverhampton Wanderers Football Club during half term week to take part in six memorable days of football related activities.

The young people were given professional coaching at Molineux Stadium and Dome Training Ground, and met some of the team's players. Input was given in relation to team working, anti-social behaviour and acceptable behaviour, and a Fire Service anti arson message was emphasised with promotional handouts.

In addition they enjoyed a behind the scenes visit to the stadium, including a stadium view from the executive box, run out of the tunnel, conference and board room, player's lounge and changing rooms.

The event was organised by CSO Ann Moore from the Malinslee Local Policing Team, who said: "It was an extremely successful few days, which were well attended, and the enthusiasm of the young participants was inspiring.

"We have received a lot of good feedback, including a letter from a parent, who said that her daughter had had the most amazing time and had enjoyed every minute of it.
"I would like to congratulate all the young people who were given awards for participation, skills, involvement and effort."

She added: "I would like to personally thank the 'Wolves In The Community' team, Andy Morgan, and coaches Kevin, Holly and Shaun, who did an amazing job organising, entertaining and interacting with all the young people who attended.
"I would also like to thank West Mercia Constabulary and Wrekin Housing Trust, who financed the project, as well as all staff who assisted me in the build up to the event and to everyone who helped supervise the participants."
