Motorcyclist Killed in Shropshire
A motorcyclist who died following a collision with a car in north Shropshire on Saturday, is believed to be a 36-year-old man from North Wales.
He was airlifted to Selly Oak Hospital, Birmingham but was pronounced dead soon after arrival.
His motorcycle was involved in a collision with a car on the A495 at Hardwick, near Ellesmere at 6.11pm on Saturday. Two women in the car, the driver and her passenger, escaped injury.
Police today appealed for witnesses. They are anxious to hear from anyone travelling the A495 at the time who saw the impact or the circumstances leading up to it.
A police spokesperson said: The collision is still being investigated but it’s believed the car, a silver MG was being driven from the direction of Oswestry towards Ellesmere. The motorcycle, a blue and white Yamaha R6, was travelling in the opposite direction towards Oswestry.
“We are appealing for anyone who saw the collision or either vehicle immediately beforehand, to contact Shrewsbury police station on 0300-333-3000,” added the spokesperson.
Police are preparing a report on the incident for the coroner for Mid and North Shropshire, Mr John Ellery. The man is not expected to be formally identified for several days and a post mortem will be held in due course.
