Police today repeated appeals for witnesses to a two-car collision on a main road in North Shropshire. A man in his twenties was killed when his black Ford Fiesta Zetec collided with a tree, wall and another vehicle.

He was pronounced dead at the scene shortly after the collision which happened on the A41 at Shakeford, near Market Drayton at around 7.10am yesterday.

The man has not yet been formally identified but is believed to be from the North Shropshire area.

The driver of a black Ford Ka, a woman in her twenties, escaped injury. Her vehicle was involved in the collision as it travelled in the opposite direction.

A police spokesperson said today: "We are anxious to hear from anyone who saw the incident or the circumstances leading up to it and would ask them to contact Market Drayton police station on 0300 333 3000 without delay."

The speed limit should be reduced through Shakeford But the Council says there are not enough houses, so vehicles are allowed to go at 60mph past bedrooms and garden gates.

This is the 3rd death between Hinstock and Tern Hill in the last 12 months and two more deaths south of Hinstock. This should not be allowed to go on.
