Wishing Everyone a Safe Halloween
Telford & Wrekin Council is working with West Mercia Constabulary and partner organisations, to make sure everyone across the borough has a safe Halloween.
As part of these efforts, a 'Cleaner, Safer and Greener' awareness event will take place on 30 October, between 9.00am to 12.00pm at Asda in Donnington, to give residents advice on bonfires, fireworks and Halloween trick or treaters.
Front-line staff from Telford & Wrekin Council, West Mercia Police, Neighbourhood Watch, Shropshire Fire & Rescue Service, and Telford & Wrekin Council Neighbourhood Services, will be on hand to give residents safety advice and information.
Residents will also being encouraged to display a specially designed 'No Trick or Treat' sign in their window or door if they do not wish to be disturbed by nuisance visitors on 31st October.
Cllr Tracy Hope, Assistant Cabinet Member for Community Services, said: "This is not about us being kill-joys but about ensuring that everyone who wants to can enjoy Halloween and Bonfire Night, safely and without causing problems for other people.
"Often young people just think they're having a bit of fun but don't realise it can be upsetting for others"
"We're adopting a community approach and I would encourage everyone to play their part where they can."
