PostHeaderIcon Appeal for Help in Finding Missing Woman

Concern is growing for the welfare of a woman who has not been seen since early yesterday(NOV 24) afternoon. An extensive police search is under way for Jane Hicking, 45, who was last seen in the area of Bicton Heath between about 1.30pm and 2.15pm yesterday. Sergeant Clare Greenaway, of Shrewsbury Police, said Jane’s family was very worried about her and urged anyone who might have seen someone matching her description to contact police as a matter of urgency.

The band members of the award winning Abraham Darby Academy, Madeley, Telford will leave early in the day next Sunday (30th November) to travel to the West of England/South Wales Regional Festival of the National Concert Band Festival that will be held in Chepstow. Both the Showband (sponsored by Newport Chiropractic) and the Academy’s Jazz Band will be competing and will be hoping to achieve regional Gold Awards which will result in an invitation to participate in the National Festival which will be held in Cardiff in April 2009.

A Telford band which is big in Japan will be playing a special hometown gig this week – and giving some up-and-coming local acts a helping hand at the same time.Lady Fortune, who have supported the likes of The Automatic and The Pigeon Detectives, agreed to headline the gig at The Place (Oakengates Theatre) with six support acts made up of bands from schools and colleges across Telford.

The mighty Fish, who fronted classic rock act Marillion during their heyday, drops in with his band to perform at Telford later this month as part of his major 2008 world tour, “The Search for the 13 Star”. The concert, at Oakengates Theatre (The Place) is on Tuesday 25 November at 7.30.

Job seekers from across the borough of Telford and Wrekin are to get training in hospitality as part of a specially organised ‘back to work’ course that takes place on Monday on 24 November, at the Swan Centre, Stirchley. The course is specifically targeted at long term benefit claimants who have claimed incapacity benefit, job seekers allowance, income support or lone parent allowances for 12 months or more.
