Telford and Wrekin Primary Care Trust has established the Forward Mission scheme, which aims to support and encourage people to take charge of their overall physical and mental health through the help of a 'buddy.'

PostHeaderIcon Pools of woe for luckless thieves

'Luckless' thieves might have thought they were in the money when they stole ten swimming pools, recently. But West Mercia Police have revealed that all ten of them were faulty. Officers have issued an appeal for information after the thieves stole the faulty swimming pools from a shed in Stirchley, Telford. Thieves broke into the shed at an address in Cooke Drive last night, January 29,  at around 5.40pm. Two males forced their way into the shed and stole 10 swimming pools.

There's an appeal for women and ethnic minorities to join Shropshire's 999 services. An open day will be held on February 11 at Telford College of Arts and Technology from 3pm to 8pm to encourage these "under represented" groups to find out about a career in the police, fire and ambulance.

A construction manager, High Street delivery manager, assistant warehouse manager and vehicle technician, all have something in common - they are all firefighters in Shrewsbury and Minsterley. They were among 20 of the latest recruits to pass out from basic training at Shropshire Fire & Rescue Service. At a special passing out ceremony held at Shrewsbury Fire HQ, they and their employers were thanked by Chief Fire Officer Alan Taylor for contributing to Shropshire's firefighting force.

The Beacon, Wellington, has been re-launched following a major facelift. As well as improvements to the fixtures and fittings, there is a new and exciting menu, and three real ales are now available. Specially invited guests helped to re-launch the pub in style and many of the guests decided to order and enjoy food from the newly updated menu. Guests included local businessmen and businesswomen and other dignitaries.
