A petition will be launched tomorrow by Telford & Wrekin Council to rally local support behind its campaign to stop the downgrading of services at the borough’s Princess Royal Hospital. The Council will be making the petition available online at www.telford.gov.uk/sosprhpetition/

Those not online can sign the petition at Council libraries and leisure centres. Petitions will also be available at both Civic Offices and Darby House receptions in Telford Town Centre and the First Point Centre in Hadley.

Telford Detectives have confirmed they are continuing with their investigation into reports that a sexual assault occurred in Randlay on Monday 28th September. The victim, a 15-year-old girl, has stated she was assaulted behind a bus stop close to the allotments by Randlay Farm House sometime between 4.45pm and 5.40pm and police immediately launched an investigation into the incident. That investigation in ongoing, although the senior officer in charge of the case has confirmed there is little further information he can currently release.

PostHeaderIcon Road Policing Team backs Operation Clean Sweep

The work of officers from West Mercia Police’s Road Policing Support Team (RPST) based in the north of the force area has been praised after they spent a day in Telford last week supporting the efforts of the Local Police Officers working on Operation Clean Sweep in Wellington.

On Thursday 24th September the RPST spent the morning carrying out high visibility patrols in and around Wellington, checking motorists and vehicles in relation to a number of possible traffic offences.

Bobby the Buck helps Sharon Phillips and Rhona Daniel get in some practice on a uni-cycle in readiness for a big charity fundraising event for ‘Get Moving’ week.

The AFC Telford mascot took time off from his duties at the Bucks Head stadium to visit Telford Mind, one of the joint organisers of Wheels around Telford and Wrekin.

Both Sharon and Rhona will be taking part in the event which includes a nine mile cycle ride and a scoot route of up to four miles. The event starts and finishes at Telford Mind, Sutton Hill, on Sunday October 11.

The victim – a 15-year-old girl – has stated that the incident occurred behind a bus stop close to the allotments by Randlay Farm House sometime between 4.45pm and 5.40pm on Monday 28th September.

A police spokesman said: “We can confirm we have launched an investigation into this incident but I would like to stress that the investigation is at a very early stage.
