Hundreds of Telford residents turned out to take part in creative activities as part of the 10th Big Draw event. Telford held Get Creative as part of the national Big Draw event, at Hadley Learning Community (HLC) this week, when over 450 residents were encouraged to be creative.

Activities included the making of a giant paper forest and displays and workshops by professional artists and writers including Shoo Rayner.

A local artist with over 16 years experience is currently exhibiting at the Gallery Bar @ The Place until November 28. Paul Wilkinson, 32, works mainly using canvas and acrylic to create eye-catching, contemporary pieces. He also has a keen eye for photography and having worked in graphic design, has an understanding and respect for a wide variety of artistic media. Paul’s work has featured in exhibitions by some of the most respected names in the business, including Halls Fine Arts, and his photography has featured in educational brochures and promotional literature.

PostHeaderIcon Temporary closure of Mytton Lane

Mytton Lane, which runs from Forton Heath to Fitz via Mytton, is to be temporarily closed to traffic at Forton Heath on Thursday (29 October 2009) for safety reasons. This closure will then remain in place until the nearby Fitz Bridge, which was recently closed after being damaged by a large vehicle, has been re-opened. It is estimated that this will be in mid-December 2009.

PostHeaderIcon Unique US-made bike stolen in St Georges

Police are appealing for information after thieves stole a unique American bike from a shed at a home in St Georges. The bike – a BMX Eastern Ramrodder – was stolen from the shed at an address in Marrions Hill some time between Sunday 18 October and Sunday 25 October.

The bike, which is black and green in colour and was given to a young boy for a birthday present last month, is American and cannot be bought locally. It is estimated to be worth around £250. Police are investigating the theft and have appealed to anyone with information to come forward.

A 17-year-old girl who went missing more than a week ago from Market Drayton has been found safe. Nadine O’Neill was found by police in the Merseyside area in the early hours of today, October 27th.

A police spokeswoman said:  "We wish to thank the media for their assistance with appeals for information."

Stallholders and customers at the Market Hall, Shrewsbury, have raised £260 towards the cost of an electric wheelchair and scooter for 10 year-old Tamara Peart, who is suffering from a rare genetic disorder.

Tamara who was diagnosed with the vascular type of Ehlers-Danlos Syndrome when she was six months old has just undergone major surgery on her leg and has come through the operation successfully.

Blists Hill will open its doors on the evening of Saturday, 7 November for a spectacular fireworks extravaganza. Enter Blists Hill at 6pm on the evening to see the town’s shops, cottages and workshops. Talk with the costumed residents, who will answer questions about life in the late 1800s. Blists Hill Victorian Town’s new Canal Street is sure to be a popular attraction, with its Sweet Shop and Fish and Chip Shop.

Ahead of Not in My Neighbourhood Week, from Monday 2nd November to Friday 6th November – Newport’s Local Policing Teams are busy preparing for the Clean Sweep Operation to take place this week.

The Clean Sweep Operation – which takes place on Wednesday (28th) and Thursday (29th) - will see a number of partner agencies coming together to address crime and anti-social behaviour issues that are causing issues in the town and also provide a number of events for local residents to attend, get involved in and enjoy.
