Sky’s the limit as DNA bid for TV dance glory
Telford and Wrekin area’s very own dance group DNA is bidding for glory on national television this weekend when it competes in the semi finals of Davina McCall’s Got To Dance show on Sky One.
The group is aiming to make the final of the talent show despite strong competition from five other acts.
Dog fouling warning from police
PC Mike Evans, Madeley’s Local Police Officer, has issued a warning to local dog owners who allow their pets to foul the footpath and playground on Upper Road and are not then clearing up the mess.
The warning comes after the South Telford Local Policing Team (LPT) received a number of complaints through PACT (Partners and Communities Together) from local residents who are worried about the health and environmental problems dog fouling can cause.
Ketley business hit
Police in Telford are appealing for information following a burglary in Ketley. The incident occurred at a business premises on Whitchurch Drive sometime between 5pm on Wednesday 27th January and 8am on Thursday 28th January.
Sometime during the period in question, it appears that thieves entered the business compound by climbing over some metal fencing. They then forced their way into a large metal portacabin by smashing the lock with a spanner before carrying out an untidy search of the premises and making their escape.
Burglary in Dawley
Police officers are investigating following a burglary in Dawley. The incident occurred at an address on Beames Close sometime between 11.30pm on Wednesday 27th January and 6.45am on Thursday 28th January.
Sometime overnight it appears that thieves broke into the property by forcing open a kitchen window to the rear of the house.
Once inside the kitchen it appears that the thieves stole a laptop computer, a Sony Ericsson mobile phone, around £50 in cash and a set of keys to a Jaguar X-Type car before then leaving the property.
Police appeal for assistance
Telford Police officers are appealing for assistance as they attempt to identify a man they believe could be an important witness to a theft that occurred late last year.
The incident occurred in Somerfield stores on Grange Avenue in Stirchley on Monday 21st December. At just after 11.45am, two unknown men entered the store and made their way to the end of the aisle where bottles of vodka were on sale.

Piglets stolen in Newport burglary
Newport, Shropshire, Police are investigating following an unusual burglary in a neighbouring village. The incident occurred at a farm near Chetwynd sometime between 5pm on Tuesday 26th January and 8am on Wednesday 27th January.
Sometime overnight thieves drove off the A41 onto the farm in a vehicle (the type of which is not known at present, although it is suspected that a Land Rover could have been involved) and then made their way to a number of pens where around 210 piglets were housed.
Gas works in Wellington UPDATE Thursday AM
As at 17.15 this evening, gas engineering work is being undertaken in Crown Street, Wellington, outside Subway.
This means that larger vehicles may have problems using Crown Street so might need to find a different route through Wellington.
UPDATE: As at 09.00 this morning (Thursday) gas engineers are still working in Crown Street, Wellington.
Council to secure Dawley club’s future and bonanza for local charities
Telford & Wrekin Council looks to have ensured the long-serving Dawley Memorial Club can continue as a major community facility for the area after securing its future.
The Council has agreed to buy the club’s main building from the Trust that runs this and will lease this back so that the club can continue to be a focal point for people in Dawley.
The sale will also trigger a windfall for three Dawley-based charities who had previously applied for any proceeds from this following trustees decision to wind up the charity.
